- Understand anatomy, physiology and how the body responds to sport and exercise.
- Explore sport psychology, motivation and performance coaching techniques.
- Develop fitness training skills to improve health, performance and wellbeing.
- Learn sport science research methods, testing and performance analysis.
- Gain practical experience in sports massage and study another subject alongside.
Sport and Exercise Science offers excellent progression opportunities to leading universities, higher education courses and apprenticeships. Students can progress into careers including sports therapy, physiotherapy, nutrition, psychology, coaching, teaching and strength and conditioning, supported by industry-recognised knowledge and practical skills developed throughout the course.
Over two years, students complete 8 units, combining exams, coursework and practical assessments. Work experience develops industry knowledge and career readiness for higher education, apprenticeships or employment. Lessons include practical activities, discussion and group work. Strong organisation, commitment and a passion for sport, health, fitness and performance are key to success.
Students must buy one kit bundle (Academy-specific or Sport and PE) and purchase revision guides/workbooks for externally assessed units to support course success. Teachers will send links for this.
