Uniformed services

The Uniformed Services Department offers vocational diploma courses at NCFE Level 2 & 3, which offer direct progression to the Uniformed Services and higher education.

Study uniformed services

Worthing College’s Uniformed Services program includes the Combined Cadet Force (RN) for adventure-focused training. It’s the first FE College partnered with the Royal Navy for this. Students gain vital skills for careers in emergency services, military, customs, or prison service. Explore courses below.

KEY FEATURES

As a cadet you will have the chance to take part in a vast range of activities such as learning to sail, tackling an assault course, scuba diving, mountaineering, mountain biking, rock climbing and much more.

You will be issued with a uniform and will take part in regular parades, developing a sense of leadership, teamwork and work ethic within a uniformed service environment.

Within the Combined Cadet Force (RN) learners take ownership of their contingent and can earn promotion through the ranking structure.

2nd year Level 3 students undergo rigorous training in their first year and go on to act as facilitators of Level 1,2 and first year level 3 students, learning vital leadership skills, personal responsibility and self-discipline.

COMBINED CADET FORCE

All students enrolled on Uniformed Services at Worthing College will join our Combined Cadet Force (RN), an exciting and adventure activity focussed programme which runs alongside the Uniformed Services courses offering multiple additional qualification opportunities.

We are the first FE College to be chosen to work with the Royal Navy in the capacity of a Combined Cadet Force – Royal Naval contingent. During your time at Worthing College you will develop a wide range of skills which will be vital to whichever Uniformed Service career you choose – whether it is in the emergency services, military, customs or prison service.

The course instils a sense of maturity and discipline which is vital to joining the police at a young age, and I was able to gain experience managing people thought the Combined Cadet Force. I gained practical skills such as understanding how to speak over radio, and standards of physical fitness. I was also introduced to crime scene investigation and much more!
