Vanessa Rhymes – FDSC Lecturer in Sport, Exercise & Health Science

I trained at the University of Brighton where I gained a BEd (Hons) in Physical Education with Business Studies. Since qualifying my teaching has been in both High School and Colleges across Sussex.

My role is lecturing on the new Foundation Degree launched in 2016. The modules I work on are Interpersonal and Professional Skills and Work Based Learning. Part of my role is centred around the progression of students – whether that is University, apprenticeships and or the world of work.

My philosophy and approach has always been student centred and I try my upmost to inspire and aspire students to be the best version of themselves they can be and that anything is possible for them if they believe in themselves and given the right support.

I have been at the College since 2000 and it truly is a great place to work and study. We value our students as individuals and strive to give them the best experience possible. There are so many great examples of past and present students excelling in the most exciting of fields, it makes me proud to be part of their journey.
