Vanessa Reynolds – Teacher of Visual Arts and Academy of Art Coordinator

My name is Vanessa Reynolds and I teach both AS and A2 Textiles, AS Fine Art and Level 2 BTEC Art and Design. I have taught Textiles and Fine Art all most of my 18 years of teaching and I absolutely love everything about the subjects. I have taught BTEC Art and Design for 3 years, where I teach the Textiles, Fine Art and Graphics element.

My Degree is in Printed Textiles from Winchester School of Art. After university I free-lanced as a textile print design artist for both fashion and furnishing companies, working for names like Oasis, Debenhams, Laura Ashley, Sanderson, C and H fabrics. Also designing greetings cards and gift wrap for companies like Paperchase and Marks & Spencers.

I am a practicing textile artist, being a member of TextileArtist.org stitch club, and exhibiting annually at Open House art exhibitions. My favourite textiles process is machine stitching into my paintings, to blend the 2 disciplines of Fine Art and Textiles together. I am also a painter and a member of an art collective. I regularly exhibit my paintings in galleries and was a contestant on Landscape Painter of the Year 2018.
