A-Level Success in the Making: Worthing College Students Shine in Mock Exams
Hard work, determination and ambition are paying off for first-year students at Worthing College with many learners achieving outstanding results in their recent mock A-level exams.

First-year students demonstrated impressive academic achievement and ambition across a range of subjects as they prepare for the next stage of their educational journey.
A total of 14 students achieved A or A* grades for all their end of year one exams proving that hard work and determination really can lead to exceptional results.
Annabelle Burch attended Davison High School for Girls and is studying English language and literature (Mock result: A*), media studies (A) and fine art (A). Annabelle is planning to go to university to study English Literature.
Annabelle said: “So far, I have really enjoyed my courses and having the chance to create practical work with coursework and think creatively surrounding the subject.
“I’ve enjoyed being able to learn more about the subjects that interested me at GCSE and have expanded my knowledge with the help of my teachers.
“My favourite part of my college experience so far has been creating my coursework for my Media Studies A-level. I enjoyed watching my ideas materialise. I have also enjoyed being able to investigate women’s rights for my EPQ (Extended Project Qualification) project, and it’s also an opportunity to practise my art skills as I am creating an artefact.”
Sofia Khan attended Shoreham Academy and is studying Biology, Chemistry and English Literature, receiving As in all three mocks, and hopes to go on to university to study Medicine and Surgery as a six-year course.
Sofia said: “I think our lessons here, for me personally, are very interactive and don’t just focus on passive learning. We do a lot of practicals in the sciences and play games sometimes to consolidate our learning.
“Our teachers give us comprehensive feedback, and we do many tests to monitor our progress. Overall, my experience has been helpful, and I would highly recommend prospective students.”
Jenny Thompson, Vice-Principal of Worthing College, said: “Achieving an A or A* at the end of your first year is an outstanding accomplishment and reflects your commitment, resilience and academic ambition.
“Congratulations on everything you have achieved so far – we look forward to seeing what you accomplish in your final year.”
