Saluting the future: Worthing College Uniformed Services Students Stage First Class Passout Parade
It was an evening of great pride and celebration at Worthing College as Uniformed Services students took centre stage for the annual passout parade.

From sharp, synchronised drills to well-earned awards, it was a celebration of dedication, teamwork and the journey the students have taken to reach this moment. Supporters watched on as the students demonstrated their skills in glorious summer sunshine.
An awards ceremony followed in the exhibition hall, with awards going to students in the categories of Above and Beyond, Leadership, Most Improved, Best Drill, Best Attendance, Academic Award and Best Uniform.

All students enrolled on Uniformed Services at Worthing College join the Combined Cadet Force (RN), an exciting and adventure activity focussed programme which runs alongside the Uniformed Services courses offering multiple, additional qualification opportunities.
Associate Lecturer in Uniformed Services, Lieutenant James Horlock, said many hours of hard work, dedication and practise go into the passout parade.
He said: “The passout parade is a chance to celebrate a year of hard work for all the students.
“This is a fantastic opportunity to reward all the hard work students have put into the course this year and a chance for them all to say goodbye to each other.
“Many of this year’s leavers have now found careers in the Army, RAF, Navy, Police and Fire Service. We pride ourselves in preparing all students for a long career within a Uniformed Service.
“Having Uniformed Services students partake in the Combined Cadet Force, which our own cadet unit further enhances their discipline and overall understanding, prepares them for a long career in the Uniformed Services.”

Warrant Officer Class 1, Oliver Edbury, who has just completed his Uniformed Services course, now plans to come back to be a cadet force adult volunteer in the role of Sub-Lieutenant and has plans to join the Royal Air Force in the future.
Oliver said he found the course ‘absolutely amazing.’ He said: “I’ve learned so much stuff from my confidence to my leadership. I’m able to command everyone with confidence now which I could never have done before – it’s just amazing what this course has done for me.”
