Sport Studies BTEC Level 3 National Foundation Diploma/Ext Diploma (Triple)

COURSE OVERVIEW

If the answer is yes, then our Sport Studies course is the one for you! At the College we continue to provide an outstanding experience for our students and studying on the Sport Studies course is no different. Our lecturers have a wide range of both educational and industry led experience to support our students in realising their progression route goals across a range of career choices, such as teaching, coaching, personal training for example. The content of this qualification has been developed in consultation with employers, professional bodies, academics and Universities to ensure that if it supports progression to positive progression routes. The qualification gives students the knowledge, understanding and skills that underpin the sport, health and active lifestyle sector to prepare them for future careers. In the first year (Foundation Diploma) students will study the following units; o Unit 1 -; Anatomy & Physiology (externally assessed unit) o Unit 2 -; Fitness Training & Programming for Health, Sport & Well-being (externally assessed unit) o Unit 3 -; Professional Development in the Sports Industry o Unit 4 -; Sports Leadership o Unit 5 -; Application of Fitness Testing o Unit 7 -; Practical Sport o Unit 10 -; Organising Sports Events From the knowledge gained in the first year, students will study the following in year two (Extended Diploma); o Unit 6 -; Sports Psychology o Unit 8 -; Coaching for Performance o Unit 9 -; Research Methods o Unit 17 -; Sports Injury Management o Unit 19 -; Development & Provision of Sport & Physical Activity (externally assessed unit) o Unit 22 -; Investigating Business in Sport & the Active Leisure Industry (externally assessed unit) So, if you are looking for a career in sport or just wanting to develop your knowledge within this amazing subject area, this course is for you!

FURTHER INFORMATION

You will need a minimum of five GCSEs at 9-4, including English Language or Maths.

GCSE PE or other vocational Sport qualifications is very useful, but not compulsory. You will need to enjoy participating in a range of practical activities as this will be embedded as part of the learning process.
