The Men’s Football Academy training consists of technical and tactical development along with looking to improve player game intelligence.
On field training takes place at the home of Sussex FA (Lancing) twice a week and in addition to this the squad work closely with Strength & Conditioning Coaches at the Sussex Performance Centre to ensure that players are in the prime physical condition to not only play at a high intensity, but to also understand the importance of recovery and pre-habilitation (not getting injured). S&C training is very much a requirement for the academic athlete, which is the Academy of Sports ethos.
Experienced and well qualified staff ensure that player development is paramount and that an effective learning environment is provided to allow players to be a success both on the field and in the classroom.
Support staff include strength and conditioning as well as sports therapy to ensure that players are in the best physical condition to compete in all aspects of College.
The Men’s Football Academy at Worthing College compete at the top level of College football in England. This allows players to test themselves against some of the best players outside of the professional game.  This provides a highly effective learning environment.
Two squads (ECFA & AoC) compete each week in the following competitions, allowing maximum player and team development:
- ECFA Category 1 National League,
- ESFA National Colleges’ Cup,
- 1st XI SSFA County Cup,
- AoC National Colleges’ Cup,
- AoC Category 2 Regional League (playing mostly 1st XI’s),
- 2nd XI SSFA County Cup.
To enhance player education, games are videoed and uploaded onto an app where players can analyse their performance from the comfort of their own devices.
