BASKETBALL

ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Basketball Academy at Worthing College combines a variety of academic pathways with high-level training and performance against some of the best basketball players both in the South East and nationally.

The focus at the Academy is to not only develop the players performance, but also achieve academic excellence across a varied academic pathway, whether it be A-Levels, BTEC or a combination, where our Academy students have realized their full potential and have achieved outstanding results.

The academic and training pathway fit around each other, allowing potential to be met across both areas, leading to a wider range of progression opportunities through university, apprenticeships or employment.

Training and matches

Students at the Basketball Academy receive two high quality training sessions from well qualified coaching staff each week to develop technical and tactical awareness.

This is combined by working with the Strength and Conditioning Performance Coaches at the Sussex Performance Centre, which allows these players to develop their conditioning as well as vital fitness components that are important to their Basketball development. The squad get to use the outstanding Sussex Performance Centre facility, which allows them to train at a high level and intensity in this aspect of their education and performance.

The Basketball Academy at Worthing College competes around the South East against some of the best talent the area has to offer. This allows players to test themselves and provides a highly effective learning environment.

The squad competes each week in the following competitions, allowing maximum player and team development:

  • AoC SE League and Cup,
  • AoC Regional Championships,
  • Dynamik Schools League and Cup.
