Award-winning talent takes the spotlight at Worthing College exhibition
Worthing College recently hosted its Visual Arts & Media Summer Exhibition, which featured a wide variety of creative work from across the last year.
The event featured work by the college’s photography, graphics, textiles, fine art, film and media studies students.
Each course had a section to exhibit their work, with each student having a selected piece of work hung up for visitors to view.
Visitors were particularly impressed by showreels of some of the college’s film students’ work.
Towards the end of the night, there were also two categories of awards given out to students for each subject – hard work & effort and achievement.
One of the award-winning students on the night was Sylvie Bracey, who won an achievement award for Media Studies. She won the award for a piece of work she completed, she said:
“It was to make a DVD sleeve, a cinematic poster, and a billboard poster for a film concept that you have to come up with. So, mine was the colour scheme and it was about a guy who discovers a new colour, I had to take the pictures and then go on Photoshop and edit them into this.
“I’m really happy with my award, I’m really proud of everyone in my class and I’m so pleased…I’ve really enjoyed my courses. I think the support has been good, the teaching has been good, and I love my subjects.
“My favourite thing has probably been doing this. It was really fun to have a project that’s you come up with the concept and you’re like in charge of it from research to like the final product.”
Debbie Reynolds, Subject Leader of Visual Arts at Worthing College, added:
“Our private view was immensely successful with student’s family and friends in attendance and our awards presentation ceremony went off, thankfully without any malfunctions!
“Congratulations to all of our VAM students and well done to all the hard-working teachers and support staff who worked tirelessly.”
