Circuit success sees Worthing College student claim top prize
A Worthing College student electronics excellence has been rewarded.
Emanuele Papa has won this year’s Best Electronics Project award – sponsored by GB Electronics (GBE).
The first-year electronics student designed and built three working circuits; an Italian traffic light controlled by a microcontroller, a two-digit counter circuit, and a light sensitive LED circuit.
He demonstrated his circuits to GBE’s Adam Beardmore, as well as the college’s principal Helena Thomas and vice principal Jenny Thomas, and was rewarded with a £50 Amazon voucher after claiming the award for best project.
Chris Stabler, electronics teacher at Worthing College, said: “Emanuele did such a fantastic job, and has worked hard to bring his designs to fruition.
“Adam greatly enjoyed the students’ demonstrations of their projects.
“We work closely with GBE throughout the year – they come in to see the students regularly, delivering workshops and talks, which makes a huge impact to their studies. We are very grateful to them for their ongoing support.
“And we’ve seen a number of students progress into apprenticeship programmes with GBE, showing their commitment to providing young people with career opportunities.”
