Worthing College Students Overcome Fears in two-week Activity Programme
Applied science students from Worthing College recently embarked on an insightful two-week activity-based learning opportunity, organised by the Concordia Youth Programme.
The activities, held between 14 and 25 October, allowed students to improve their soft skills, such as teamwork and problem-solving, which they had built on earlier in the year through participating in social action projects for Cancer Research and Worthing Foodbank.
One of the activities the students took part in was a day out to Go Ape in Crawley. This activity helped students try to overcome their fear of heights. To do this, they cheered each other as they all tackled obstacle courses at a great height.
Some of the things that students said they enjoyed the most included meeting new people, working with others, and being able to try something new.
One student who took part said: “My confidence definitely has improved” and another revealed that they had “made new friends and worked with the community and team.”
Helena Thomas, Principal of Worthing College, added: “It’s inspiring to see our students engage so wholeheartedly in these activities, both challenging themselves and building invaluable skills.
“The Concordia Youth Programme has provided them with unique opportunities to grow, collaborate, and give back to the community, all of which are essential qualities for their future success.”
