Worthing College Football Academy celebrated two resounding victories over Spanish teams in a recent annual Warm Weather Training Camp.

Worthing College Football Academy jetted off to the Futbol Salou resort in Spain last month.

The annual warm weather training camp saw both members of the men & women’s squad experiencing life as professional athletes, with the players going straight into a training session straight off the plane.

Both teams were set in preparation for their first games, which saw the women’s team beat St Pere St Pau in a 5-2 victory, as well as the men’s team take a 6-0 win against Pobla Juvenil.

Dave Hall, Teaching & Learning Manager for Sport at Worthing College, said: “Both squads who travelled to Spain were a credit to both their families and the college.

“They have developed some excellent habits during this training camp, and this has allowed them to enhance skills that will help them in all walks of life.

“It was also great to see all players grow, not only as performers, but also as people, as well as continuing to be unbeaten in Europe. We’re looking forward to 2025 already!”

Both squads took part in a training session led by Spanish coaches, which included a strength and conditioning session, followed by some downtime before the next game, which saw the women’s team beat Vilaseca Feminina 11-1 and the men’s team draw 1-1 with Cambrils Juvenil.

Worthing Football Academy continued their trip with a training session on the hybrid grass pitch, followed by a traditional beach conditioning session, lunch and a spa session to support recovery.

While maintaining an unbeaten record on European soil, the final day saw both groups travel to Barcelona to tour Camp Nou while exploring the rest of the city.
