Worthing College student offered apprenticeship degree with GB Electronics

19 May 2023

A Worthing College student has been offered an apprenticeship degree with GB Electronics.

Adam Beardmore, who is currently studying physics, maths and computer science, found out he had been offered an incredible opportunity at GB Electronics, to study an apprenticeship degree as a design engineer at University of Chichester starting in July 2023.

Adam said: “GB Electronics have been great. I’ve always had the opportunity to meet with them and talk to them about anything I need or if I have questions.”

Lewis Thom, a representative from GB Electronics, added: “GB Electronics saw that there’s opportunity to have partnerships with Worthing College, but also with colleges in the local area. We’ve seen that it’s really important to make sure that we’re keeping the skills and the knowledge within the local area.

“We reach out with colleges, particularly Worthing College, and aim to establish this partnership and work closely with the students where we can, specifically in STEM subjects, and showing students that there are local opportunities.

“At the moment, working with Worthing College is fantastic, because it’s helping Adam and other students coming up this path, to get an insight into the industry and how we work, so it’s a really exciting time for Adam to be doing this.”

Adam’s aspirations in his career journey are to hopefully gain the job role of a project manager, saying: “I’d like to eventually lead a team so that I have gained the experience and knowledge to delegate and manage a team well’

Lewis also commended Chris Stabler, Adam’s lecturer: “Chris has been incredibly organised and supportive of Adam, and this whole experience. Without him, this wouldn’t happen.”
