Join us for this year’s science technician conference which is free-to-attend. In order to make it free, we are going with the idea of ‘bring your own lunch‘, although tea and coffee, and more importantly, biscuits, will be provided throughout the day!

This is an opportunity for you to have a hands-on day of CPD, featuring a selection of workshops.

Our workshop options this year are based on feedback received from science technicians and what they would like to see, including:

  • KS4 GCSE Required practicals – This will be split up into three subject-specific hands-on sessions. Each session will look at several required practicals, selected by the attendees, with the focus on how to get the practical to work, plus insight from the teacher perspective on what they want students to get from each practical.
  • KS5 A-Level Required practicals – This will be split up into three subject-specific hands-on sessions. Each session will look at several required practicals, selected by the attendees, with the focus on how to get the practical to work, plus insight from the teacher perspective on what they want students to get from each practical.

For anyone selecting any of the above sessions there will be an MS form to complete so that we can target the practicals the attendees want to see in the sessions.

It would also be useful to come prepared with any of the practicals you offer that you may have questions or problems with.

  • Multimeters – how to use them and get the most out of them!
  • Training for new technicians.
  • Soldering with the possibility of doing this in one session or extending it out to two sessions so you can take your time! There will be a make and take project.
  • Discussion group – general chat and sharing of experiences – the good and the bad, time management and tips and tricks.

Everyone that registers will be sent a timetable for the day so that they will be able to select their preferred sessions before the event takes place.

Parking is available for free on campus
