enrolment FAQs

• On 1 August we email students telling them the date, time and venue of their first lesson in early September.
• 16-19 year old students on full-time courses will be be given their timetables at 3pm on Friday 5 September, through the student portal C-Space. You will be shown how to log in to C-Space earlier in the week on your Induction Day.
• Please don’t contact the college in advance to ask for your timetable because individual timetables will not yet be finalised.
• Adults on part-time courses will normally be emailed their timetable in the week before their first lesson.

• We will email students on 1 August with the date, time and venue of your first day at college. This information will also be published on your Application Tracker page.
• This Starting Information email will also inform you if you need to attend an enrolment appointment at college the week before the start of teaching.
• 16-18 year old students who are new to college will normally be asked to attend an enrolment appointment in the last week of August. Their first day of teaching (Induction Day) will normally be in the first week of September.
• Adults can see the date of their first lesson on the course information page of the college website.

• Don’t worry – many students decide they want to change courses. Many students have to change courses because they do not achieve the entry requirements for their planned course.
• It is very unusual for us to say no to course changes if you have the entry requirements for the new course. The only reason why we occasionally have to say no is if the new course is already full.
• Just come to your enrolment appointment in the last week of August as planned and we will discuss the course change with you then.
• Don’t forget to research the new course carefully, looking at the course information pages on our website. You should also complete the ‘Getting Ready For’ task, which you will find on our Getting Started site here

• We are still taking applications and will do our best to find spaces for late applicants who meet our entry requirements.
• If you have not applied already, just go to our website, choose your course and complete a new application.
• It may be difficult for us to interview you over the summer holiday because teaching staff are not always available. We may invite you to attend an interview in early September. If we offer you a place, then we can enrol you at the same time.

• Students who are 16-18 are normally required to study Maths and English at college if they haven’t yet achieved GCSE grade 4. Students normally study GCSE courses or Functional Skills, depending on your previous experience.
• If you are aged 16-18, there will be a Maths and English desk to speak to when you come in to enrol at the start of the Autumn term. They will be able to answer all your questions.
• Your Maths and English classes will be at a time that fits alongside your main courses.

• Please be aware that August – September is an extremely busy period for the Admissions team and there may be a delay in removing you from our system. As a result, you may continue to receive automated emails for a while.
• If you are no longer planning to study with us, please ignore any further automated emails you receive.

• Don’t worry if you haven’t accepted your place. If we have sent you an offer of a place, we will assume you are coming, unless you tell us you have decided to withdraw.

• We send pre-enrolment emails to all students starting new courses in September. These emails are sent out during June.
• If you are continuing with two-year courses such as T Levels and A Levels, you do not need to pre-enrol and will not receive the email.
• If you cannot find our email asking you to pre-enrol, please check your spam and junk folders first. Please also try searching for an email called ‘Pre-enrol now’.
• If your pre-enrolment email has not arrived by the 1 July, please email the following address, stating your name, date of birth, student number and the difficulty you are having.

• Any fees for your course will be confirmed when you complete your pre-enrolment form. We email this form out to applicants in June and send regular reminders.
• The course fees will vary according to the nature of the course and your personal circumstances.
• The pre-enrolment form will explain the payment options for your course.
• Your enrolment on the course is not secured until your course fees have been paid or a loan confirmed.

• In June we send pre-enrolment emails to all students starting college in September. To find this email, search your inbox for an email from us called ‘Pre-enrol now’.
• If you are aged 19 or above and your course is eligible for the Advanced Learner Loan, your pre-enrolment email will provide a link to the government website and all of the instructions you will need to apply.
• If your pre-enrolment email does not include information about the Advanced Learner Loan, this means that you or your course are not eligible for the loan.
• Note: We advise all applicants to complete the pre-enrolment form first to find out whether they need to apply for a loan. Many students qualify for funding without a loan because of their personal circumstances or educational background.
• You are advised to apply for the loan as early as possible to ensure that is in place by the start of your course. When we have received confirmation from the government portal that your loan is approved, we will complete your enrolment.

• If you have a sponsor who will be paying your course fees, you will be asked to provide your sponsor’s details when you complete your pre-enrolment form.
• We will email you a Sponsorship form and ask you to forward it to your sponsor. They should complete the form and return it to our enrolment team. Your sponsor will then be invoiced for the course fees.
• When we have received the signed sponsorship form, we will complete your enrolment.

• Our Online Store can be found here: CCG Online Store
• (You can also find it from the college website. Go to the college website and click on ‘Staff and Student Links’ at the top of the screen. Then click on ‘Online Store’, then ‘Find out more’. This will take you to the home page.)
• From the Product Catalogue, select your college and then click on the item you want to purchase.
• Add the item to your basket. Then click on your ‘Shopping Basket’ and then ‘Proceed to Checkout’.
• If you have not used the store before you will need to register. This involves creating a password, and adding your personal and address details.
• Your Student Number / ID is your unique college number. This is included in the admissions and enrolment emails we have sent to you. You can also find it by logging in to Application Tracker here: CCG Application Tracker.
• Remember to tick the ‘I am human’ box.
• You will then be asked to complete the purchase as normal, using your payment details.

• Yes, if you receive the Learning Support Grant, this can contribute to the cost of any compulsory purchases you have been asked to make from the Online Store.
• The Learning Support Grant may not cover the cost of the whole item, depending upon how expensive it is. You can discuss this with staff at your enrolment appointment.

• The Learning Support Grant provides financial support to students (or their families) who are in receipt of eligible benefits or have a low income and are studying a course that leads to a government funded qualification.
