COURSE OVERVIEW
Our Spanish pre-intermediate course is for you if you have already completed a year of previous study of the language and are working at around an A2 level of Spanish (Common European Framework of Reference for languages ‘CEFR’; level A2). The main aim of the course is to learn and then consolidate your use of basic language structures and vocabulary by, for example, practising talking about the present, past and future in Spanish. You will also learn more about different aspects of Spanish and Latin American culture, from traditional festivals to popular music and dance. We will spend a lot of time on oral work, so you will have plenty of opportunities to speak Spanish in class. The course will develop your confidence, build on your previous study and provide a sound grounding for further studies.
You will learn to communicate effectively in everyday situations using all four language skills: speaking, writing, listening and reading.
Examples of topics covered during this course:
- Talking about hobbies and interests
- Talking about the future, your plans and making arrangements
- Discussing last weekend
- Talking about someone’s life; biographies: the biography of a well-known person.
- Giving opinions, agreeing and disagreeing
- asking for help, permission and favours
On this 30 week part-time course you will have ample opportunity to learn to deal with authentic situations that you might realistically encounter whilst travelling in Spain or Spanish speaking countries, for pleasure or when meeting Spanish speaking people.
Tutor Jessica Leader. Jessica has lived, worked and travelled in various parts of Spain and Latin America. She has a passion for speaking Spanish and all things Spanish and Latino. Jessica has been teaching for over 14 years.
