Creative Futures: BTEC L3 National Extended Certificate/Diploma in Visual Arts
COURSE OVERVIEW
This two-year vocational qualification is equivalent to two L3 qualifications and is ideal for post-16 learners who want to pursue a career or further study in the creative industries. With a focus on creative disciplines, students will explore a wide range of materials, techniques, and processes through practical, project based learning.
SKILLS DEVELOPED:
Visual communication & design thinking. Experimentation with creative disciplines and mixed media. Research, analysis, and contextual understanding. Portfolio presentation and professional practice
FURTHER INFORMATION
Learners with a minimum of 5 GCSE’s at grades 9-4 including English Language or Literature. Students who do not have an arts based GCSE will be expected to produce a portfolio of work to demonstrate their commitment and artistic abilities. More information will be given at the Introductory Day in June and published via a link.
BA (Hons) in Creative Disciplines, Fine Art, Graphic Design Foundation Degrees or BTEC Higher Nationals Careers in design studios and freelance practice
A combination of portfolio and external assessment.

Unit 3: The Creative Process (Internal)
Unit 4: Materials, Techniques & Processes (Internal)
Unit 5: Developing an Art & Design Portfolio (Internal)
Unit 6: Developing & Realising Creative Intentions (External & Synoptic)
OPTIONAL UNITS:
Unit 9: Photographic Materials, Techniques and Processes.
Unit 13: 3D Design Materials, Techniques and Processes.
All students must complete a summer portfolio as part of their getting ready for work before starting the course
