Worthing College Open Events

November 6, 2019

The college opened its doors on Monday 4th and Tuesday 5th November to prospective students looking to apply for September 2020. We were delighted to welcome students from all our local Worthing schools; Bohunt, Chatsmore, Davisons, Durrington, St Andrews and Worthing High School, as well as students from further afield including, Shoreham, Littlehampton, Horsham and Brighton.

The event allowed students to tour the entire campus and to view the incredible facilities the college has to offer, while learning more about the 50+ courses available which kept our teachers very busy throughout the events.

Staff were promoting other services on offer like the Duke of Edinburgh award, apprenticeships, student advice and guidance services, financial assistance. Student ambassadors were also there to help meet and greet visitors as well as to help in the various curriculum areas as Subject Supremo’s!

During the event there were three presentation talks in the Exhibition Hall with the college Principal, Paul Riley who gave an overview of his vision for all Worthing College students in terms of what to expect and the standards we set to help students build confidence, preparing them for the lives they want to live. Joining the principal was President of the Student Union and former Worthing High School student, Philip Pasby who spoke about his own personal experiences and the support available at Worthing College to help students ‘bridge the gap’ between school and college.

Prospective students and their parent/carers also had the opportunity to learn about applied general courses like BTECs and CAMTECs and how the college allows students to select a mix of A Levels and these applied general courses with Colin Illsley, Head of Learning.

We were pleased to receive record breaking numbers of students registering their attendance over the two events and we hope that it will encourage many of them the apply before the 20th December to guarantee their first choice courses.
