Worthing College strives to put itself at the heart of the local community. One of the ways we do this is by building strong links with our local partner schools. On Wednesday 21st of November, Year 9 students from Bohunt School Worthing, came and had their first taste of college.
This group of students came and worked with our Academy of Performing Arts and our Academy of Visual Arts for an interactive and creative workshop exploring character through the idea of the traditional Tragedy and Comedy masks synonymous with Drama.
The student’s day was split into two parts, starting with a workshop with the performing arts team focusing on the creation of two contrasting characters. These characters would have opposing and conflicting personalities that would then be written into a short, scripted scene.
Building on the first session, these eager Year 9 students went on to construct elaborate oversized masks out of card to represent the characters created in the first part of the day. These masks were then brought to life with stage lighting, vocals and choreographed movement to create short performances based on the student’s scripts.
Thank you to the staff and students from Bohunt School and to Performing and Visual Arts Teams for providing a great session.
