Our Vocational Experience Coordinator, Julia Flynn was part of a judging panel on a recent presentation by our Students who are on a Level 2 NCS (National Citizenship Service) programme. She shared this short anecdote about the amazing work these committed and passionate students are undertaking. Read what she had to say below.
"On Thursday 1st November, I was invited to be a dragon on a Dragons Den style presentation from the Level 2 students who are undertaking the L2 NCS programme.
The group of 21 were split into 3 teams, each having devised a Social Action Project to support Turning Tides, which they presented to the Dragons. Each project showed how they were raising funds, contributing their time and collecting donations.
To say I was impressed is an understatement. The entire group are supporting the Turning Tides charity (formerly WCHP) to 'make their life better'. Group 1 is putting together a care package of essential items and treats. Group 2 is focussing on food by volunteering in a soup kitchen and collecting surplus items from local organisations for distribution. Group 3 is doing the Pier to Pier walk to raise much needed funds – doing a fantastic job of raising £150 in the first 24 hours. They have to complete 20 hours of social action and so some will also participate in the college Sleep Out on 7th November.
Please support these young people who need all the encouragement we can give, by donating to their just giving page."
