Nine Worthing College students, and two members of staff had the opportunity of a lifetime, volunteering to work in the tiny Central American Country of Costa Rica. After six months fundraising to get them there, the group found that the trip was a real test of resilience, teamwork and stamina and enabled them to see first-hand the projects being carried out in Costa Rica, which is leading the way in environmental practices and sustainability.
This experience has set them up for life and meets one of the ten promises that Worthing College has committed to providing for its students which is to ‘provide experiences to enrich your time’. This trip was designed to give students a wider worldview and develop skills that can be built upon for the future. Such was the success of the trip that a new adventure is already being planned to Nepal.
Our student Tia Wray has written an amazing piece that has been featured on the Projects Abroad website about her time in Costa Rica.
