The first ASPIRE session was held on 19th September by new Aspire Co-ordinator, Chris Turner, with 60 students attending. Students were informed about upcoming university events and open lectures. They also received a very interesting and informative presentation from Mark Schofield (doing a Phd at Brunel University) which focused on the future citizens and developing their political identity.
The Aspire Programme provides support for students who are intending to apply to the most competitive universities. Students who achieve highly at GCSE are expected to join the Aspire Programme but all students are welcome to attend the events.
Chris also held his first session with his Competitive University Preparation Programme (CUPP) students, which was a great success. They carried out some ice breaker activities and had a debate on equal pay.
