On Thursday 19th April we held a Law Careers Fair in our Sealight Theatre.
This was for students who may be interested in a legal career, either the traditional route or alternatives such as the police force. There was also legal recruitment consultants who looked at CV's for students and pointed out any areas for improvement.
The talkers at the fair included:
Head of the Legal Department at Southern Water
Robin started as clerk in the newly founded legal department at Southern Water, went into private solicitors' practice as a legal executive, taught the ILEX course at Northbrook College while training as a solicitor; became a partner in two firms of solicitors before going back to Southern Water as the Head of their legal department.
Is in the process of completing his Legal Practice Course at Guildford and is due to start his training contract at Wannops, Solicitors in September 2018.
Police Officer – worked with new recruits for 10 years with Sussex Police and now works as a Community Officer.
Junior Barrister – works from Pallant Chambers, Chichester. She has a background in Criminal law – for both Prosecution and Defence – now works in General Civil Law.
Stephen Chantry – Associate Director of G2 Legal who has been recruiting in the legal sector for 13 years.
Loraine Silvester – has worked for 18 years in recruitment, I have worked in various sectors including; qualified accountants, Tax Lawyers in the City for both top law firms and investment banks, Risk and Compliance professionals across the financial sector.
