MEN’S RUGBY

ABOUT THE ACADEMY

The Worthing College Rugby Programme combines a variety of academic pathways with high level training, conditioning, analysis and performance.
The Rugby Programme runs two squads; playing in NatWest, County Cup, AoC, Sussex League, 7s and 10s competitions. This provides students with the platform to develop their technical, tactical, physical and psychological skills, which for us comes under game intelligence development.

Many players from the programme have gone on to represent Sussex and divisional Rugby, whilst at the same time excelling in the classroom with excellent BTEC and A Level results, allowing students to progress into employment, apprenticeships & University.

There have also been many success stories of players who have gone on to represent the Worthing Raiders 1st XV and A team, Brighton, Chichester, Bognor and Hove RFC first teams, showing the development possible at Worthing College.

Alumni and progression

The Worthing College Rugby Programme at Worthing College take pride in the progression routes that our students strive towards.

College is an important time of their academic and sporting development and at Worthing College we want students to have as many options as possible. These options include apprenticeships (FdSc Sport Exercise & Health Science, Gym Instructor, Learning Mentors), University and employment.

Whilst at Worthing College, students have excelled in the classroom (high grades on BTEC and/or A Level courses) they have also gained individual honours.

In the last five seasons 32 players have represented Sussex Rugby at Under 18 level and 3 players have represented England Colleges at Under 18 level. In addition to this Worthing College Rugby Programme have also helped develop 3 Dutch internationals and 15 Worthing Raiders National League debuts. Again fantastic achievements that are celebrated by the whole squad.
