Worthing College Academy of Sport offers unrivalled opportunities for young people who play their sport at an elite level and who want to complete their studies at a further education college like Worthing College. The students both boys and girls may play one of the following sports; basketball, football, netball or rugby. For some that may mean they live too far away to commute every day, which is why we are looking for some special host families for these students, aged 16-18.
Host families, will ideally live in Worthing and be able to provide accommodation for Academy Students up to 7 nights a week, almost always during term time only. You would need to provide a single room for students with a desk for studying, a wardrobe or chest of drawers for storage.
These young people need to be in a place that feels like home and where they are provided with a nutritious evening meal and a hearty breakfast; as young athletes a balanced diet is very important to them.
In return you will receive £20 per night during term time (up to 38 weeks per year depending on exam schedules). The parents of the students will be negotiating this with you and paying you directly for the accommodation.
As a host family you will be required to complete a Disclosure and Barring (DBS) form for the principal adult living in the house and the fees associated with this will be covered by the college.
If you have the space in your home and can provide these students with a ‘home from home’ during the week then please complete the form available here.
