coronavirus: apprentices & Employers
Updated: 8 March 2021
Worthing College has re-opened for onsite teaching and learning for students and apprentices from Monday 8 March.
To manage this safely, we are operating a phased return to onsite learning. Details relating to individual courses/classes will be provided by your apprentice coach or assessor/lecturer. Please do not come on to site until you have had contact, and received details, from your coach or assessor/lecturer.
Our key responsibility at this time remains the safety of our students and staff.
The two-metre rule and social distancing requirements will be observed. To help reduce the spread of Covid-19, the Government is introducing onsite lateral flow testing at college.
These tests are voluntary, but we do encourage all students, apprentices and staff to take part. You can find out more about our onsite testing at: https://www.worthing.ac.uk/covid-testing-centre
To prevent apprentices falling behind in their studies and to ensure they maintain their 20% off the job training, the following support is available to apprentices:
Online behaviour modules are available on OneFile
Maths and English online resources will be sent by the Functional Skills team (where required)
Updating of their 20% logs on OneFile
Assessor and Coach reviews will take place online (your apprentice's Coach/Assessor will in touch to arrange these)
Completion of portfolios and assignments that have been set
Revision for exams and End Point Assessment (EPA)
Exams and End Point Assessments are under review, in discussion with the Department for Education and Exam Boards. The outcomes will vary depending on your apprenticeship, but please be assured you will be informed when more information becomes available.
If you have any questions or concerns, please contact us on firstname.lastname@example.org.
Our assurance to you
We are working hard to ensure the safety and well-being of all our students and staff. At all of our colleges and sites, we have the following protocols:
A requirement to wear facemasks in all communal areas unless exempt for health reasons;
Social distancing measures in all buildings;
Hand sanitisers available throughout campus; and
An enhanced cleaning regime
We are currently following best practice guidelines for notifications and updates.
As soon as we are aware of a positive case at one of our colleges or sites, we will inform any students or apprentices and staff who may have come into contact with that person. This notification is through email and letter and is based on official guidance from the Government.
