New Worthing College at The Warren

Worthing College’s plans for a new College at The Warren site will be heard by Worthing Borough Council’s Development Control Committee in February 2012.

The College submitted an application in Summer 2011 to convert existing buildings on The Warren site to excellent College facilities to meet the needs of young people in the local area.

The application has taken time to work through the planning processes but is now ready to be heard.  We anticipate the application will receive approval at a meeting in February.

Following the meeting, the College will press ahead with its plans for the new Worthing College at The Warren.  Originally, we had hoped to be open at the new site in September 2012.  The latest timescales on the project mean we will now be opening the new College in February 2013.  This means that enrolment and teaching prior to the move will take place at our current site in Bolsover Road.

All teaching, examinations and other College activities will go ahead as planned until the move.

We will complete moving arrangements and open the new College in February 2013.

We look forward to welcoming our students to the fantastic teaching, learning, social and recreational and sports facilities available at the new Worthing College at The Warren.  We will be issuing further information about our plans following the Committee meeting in February.

 Heartfelt Thanks for Dan

Students and staff at Worthing College showed the size of their hearts this week in memory of popular student Dan Hoare who died at West Worthing Station in November. A total of £2660 was raised during the college Charities Week last month and donated to the British Heart Foundation today. Daniel’s parents,attended the presentation ceremony and expressed their thanks for all the support that the students and staff had shown after their son’s sudden death from heart failure. Kim Murphy from the British Heart Foundation said “This was a brilliant effort by the whole college. The sum raised could buy two defibrillators which could save many lives in future”
