Student Advice and Suppot

If you have ever had any extra help at school, or feel that you may need support when you come to college then please let us know when you apply. This means that we are able to talk to you about the best way we can work together. This could be because of a learning difficulty like Dyslexia or it might be a physical disability, health or personal issue.

We screen all students and offer some a further assessment with an Educational Psychologist. This really helps us get to know you and means that you may have support with your exams.

Here are just some of the things that we may help you with:

Special exam arrangements such as extra time, a reader or scribe
Provide you with in or out of class support
A quiet room, with computers, to work in
Help you with your coursework and personal organisation

Other help and support..

As well as the information and support you receive through your tutor we are here to offer a listening and advice service if you have any concerns or worries. We are able work closely with your teachers and tutor should you wish.

Whether it is a one off question we are able to answer for you or whether you would like to have a regular meeting to discuss more detailed personal issues we are happy to assist.

Please call into our department at the back of the library, you do not need to make an appointment.

We can refer you to external agencies that are able to provide you with specialist help and advice.

We work with the finance team and can be the first point of contact should you be having financial difficulties.

We have a lot of useful health related leaflets available outside our department and our team undertake regular training so that we are able to update these resources.

The college has a weekly Contraception and Sexual Health Clinic that is completely confidential.
